Plugin overview

On top, the type, the identifier and optionally the parent, as well as a comment are shown for each plugin configuration:

  • Type: Shows the plugin type (e.g., mTAN Message Provider or Database User Persister). The type is determined by the configured plugin and cannot be edited.
  • ID: A unique technical identifier used to reference plugins within the configuration and in the CLI.
  • Display Name: A human-readable identifier. It is used:
    • To describe the plugin. The display name appears in the drop-down lists used to select a plugin configuration. We therefore recommend that you assign a meaningful display name to any plugin configuration that may be reused.
    • For configuration specialization. The display name is required if the configuration is to be specialized by another configuration (hierarchical parent relationship).
  • Parent: Optional field denoting the hierarchical parent configuration. It is used for hierarchical configuration inheritance, i.e., specialization of configuration. The name shown in this field is the display name of the corresponding plugin configuration.
  • Comment: Optional comment that can be used to describe the configuration. Since the search function can search comments, you can use this field for “makers”, such as “TODO”, that can be easily searched for later.
