Incubating features in Airlock Microgateway

From time to time, a release of Airlock Microgateway may include what we call an incubating feature. Such features allow customers to explore new technologies or aspects of Kubernetes and Microgateway-related functionalities or DevSecOps and Zero-Trust innovations.

  • What sets incubating features apart are the following properties:
  • Incubating features are often based on draft standards that may change over time and, therefore, require breaking changes in the feature. Such changes may be included in minor product versions.
  • Incubating features are intended for proof-of-concept implementations to explore new and innovative solutions.

Incubating features in Airlock Microgateway 4.4

With Airlock Microgateway 4.4, we introduce the sidecarless Kubernetes Gateway API-based data plane mode. Only basic features have been implemented at this stage, allowing the deployment of Airlock Microgateway as Kubernetes Gateway API (rather than sidecars) and routing HTTP traffic to back-end applications even across different Namespaces.

We encourage you to try this new data plane mode for testing and evaluation. Depending on your preferences and requirements, this new data layer mode may become your preferred choice as soon as the functionality is expanded and the feature is released for productive purposes.
