Interaction models for authentication

The Airlock Secure Access Hub supports multiple interaction models for authentication. They are ways how the components involved in authentication, i.e. the browser/client, the Airlock Gateway (WAF), and Airlock IAM interact.

This chapter explains how the supported interaction models work.

Airlock supports the following interaction models:

  • Redirect interaction model: for browser-based HTML applications.
  • REST interaction model: for single-page web applications, mobile applications, or other REST clients.
  • One-Shot interaction model: for cases where the authentication token was obtained through other means.

Examples

The subsequent pages illustrate the interaction models using examples. Note that many aspects are exemplary only and can be changed (e.g. type of identity propagation or 2nd factor).
