The Autodiscover service allows to configure the mobile and Outlook clients with a small number of settings. It simplifies the setup process tremendously.

By using the Airlock WAF mapping template for Active Sync or OutlookAnywhere, the Autodiscover mapping is created automatically. That would be sufficient from an Airlock WAF perspective. All the Autodiscover requests would be passed to the Autodiscover service which will provide the external URLs for the different services.

This mechanism requires that the external URLs are configured correctly in Exchange for each service. Otherwise, the client might try to connect to an URL which is not available to him, because the DNS name cannot be resolved.
