Question or problem

Outlook Anywhere has many functions which interact differently with Airlock Gateway, Airlock IAM and Exchange. The tests outlined below help to verify whether the integration was successful or not.

Test whether Outlook Anywhere is working properly through Airlock Gateway:

  • Test Outlook client configuration
  • Test that Outlook connects correctly
  • Test the Autodiscover service
  • Test the out of office service
  • Test the offline address book

Test Outlook client configuration

In a properly configured Exchange environment, the Autodiscover service provides the necessary information about the available Exchange services. This allows users to setup their email accounts with minimal input.

To verify that the Autodiscover service is providing the correct piece of information, follow the steps below.

Procedure-related prerequisites

  • The web application needs to be configured and running.
  • Configuration takes place in Windows client.
  • Close Outlook, if running

Instruction

  1. Test preparation:
  2. Go to: Control Panel >> Mail.
  3. Click on Show Profiles...
  4. Select Prompt for a profile to be used.
  5. Click on Add...
  6. Enter a Profile Name.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Set the following values:
    • Your Name: <YOUR NAME>
    • Email Address: <YOUR EMAIL>
    • Password: <YOUR PASSWORD>
    • Retype Password: <YOUR PASSWORD>
  9. Click Next.
  1. Test execution and verification:
  2. Check the result of the wizard used in the preparation.
  3. The wizard finishes with a success confirmation.
  • In case of failure:
  • Check the Outlook client is connecting through HTTPS.
  • Check the Windows client trusts the server certificate.

Test that Outlook connects correctly

To test that the Outlook client connects with the correct protocol, follow the steps below.

Procedure-related prerequisites

  • Configuration takes place in Windows client.

Instruction

  1. Test preparation:
  2. Open Outlook.
  3. Press Ctrl + Right Mouse click on the Outlook icon in the notification area.
  4. Choose Connection Status... from the menu.
  1. Test execution and verification:
  2. Check the Protocol being used in the Outlook Connections Status column.
  3. The Protocol is either RPC over HTTP or MAPI over HTTP.
  • In case of failure:
  • Check the Exchange RPC and/or Exchange MAPI mapping is connected to the corresponding virtual host and back-end group.

Test the Autodiscover service

To verify that the Outlook client receives the correct information from the Autodiscover service, follow the steps below.

Procedure-related prerequisites

  • Configuration takes place in Windows client.

Instruction

  1. Test preparation:
  2. Open Outlook.
  3. Press Ctrl + Right Mouse click on the Outlook icon in the notification area.
  4. Choose Test Email AutoConfiguration... from the menu.
  5. Set the following values:
    • Email Address: <YOUR EMAIL>
    • Password: <YOUR PASSWORD>
  6. Enable the checkbox Use AutoDiscover.
  7. Disable the checkbox Use Guessmart.
  8. Disable to checkbox Secure Guessmart Authentication.
  9. Click on Test.
  1. Test execution and verification:
  2. Check the output shown in the Results tab.
  3. Information about the Exchange environment is shown.
  4. Change to the Log tab.
  5. httpStatus=200 is shown.
  6. Change to the XML tab.
  7. The URLs shown are the expected ones.
  • In case of failure:
  • Check the Exchange Autodiscover mapping is connected to the corresponding virtual host and back-end group.
  • Check the Autodiscover service is configured properly.

Test the out of office service

To verify that the Outlook client can use the out-of-office service properly, follow the steps below.

Procedure-related prerequisites

  • Configuration takes place in Windows client.

Instruction

  1. Test preparation:
  2. Open Outlook.
  3. Change to the menu File.
  4. Click on Automatic Replies (Out of Office).
  5. Enable the checkbox Send automatic replies.
  6. Set the following values:
    • Tab Inside My Organization: <YOUR MESSAGE>
    • Tab Outside My Organization: <YOUR MESSAGE>
  7. Click on OK.
  1. Test execution and verification:
  2. Re-open the Automatic Replies (Out of Office) dialog.
  3. The out-of-office message is set correctly.
  4. Send a test mail to this account.
  5. You should receive an out-of-office message in return.
  6. Search in Airlock Gateway for Exchange EWS mapping logs.
  7. No block log messages are shown.
  1. Test finalization:
  2. Disable the out-of-office message.
  • In case of failure:
  • Check the Exchange EWS mapping is connected to the corresponding virtual host and back-end group.

Test the offline address book

To test if the Outlook client can retrieve the offline address book, follow the steps below.

Procedure-related prerequisites

  • Configuration takes place in Windows client.

Instruction

  1. Test preparation:
  2. Open Outlook.
  3. Change to the menu Send / Receive.
  4. Click on Send/Receive Groups and choose Download Address Book...
  5. Enable the checkbox Download changes since last Send/Receive.
  6. Select the desired Address book.
  7. Click on OK.
  1. Test execution and verification:
  2. Search in Airlock Gateway for Exchange OAB mapping logs.
  3. No block log messages are shown.
  • In case of failure:
  • Check the Exchange OAB mapping is connected to the corresponding virtual host and back-end group.
